OliveTerm (“we”, “us”) provides a market intelligence platform for the olive oil industry at oliveterm.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. This policy is provided in English; if you have questions in Spanish or Portuguese, contact us and we will be happy to help.

Data we collect

Account data. When you create an account we collect your email address, a display name, a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider), and the business type you select (e.g. producer, trader, importer).
Profile and verification data. If you apply for verified seller or broker status, we may collect company details you choose to provide (company name, country, tax ID) to review your application.
Content you submit. Trade listings, chat and private messages, price reports, notes, saved calculations, directory entries, and support requests are stored so the product can function.
Usage data. We use privacy-friendly analytics (Vercel Analytics) to understand aggregate page usage. We also store preferences such as language and theme in cookies and local storage on your device.

How we use your data

To provide and operate the terminal, marketplace, and messaging features.
To review verification applications and prevent abuse (e.g. chat moderation, bans).
To send transactional email such as account confirmation and verification decisions.
To notify you in-app about price alerts and platform activity you opted into.
To improve the product using aggregate, non-identifying usage statistics.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Where your data lives

Application data is stored with Supabase (PostgreSQL, hosted in the EU region where available) and the site is served by Vercel. Transactional email (such as account confirmation) is delivered through our authentication provider. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and data-processing terms.

What other users can see

Your display name is visible alongside content you post (chat messages, trade listings, directory entries). Your email address is never shown publicly. Private messages are visible only to you, the recipient, and — for abuse investigations — platform administrators.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing hello@oliveterm.com. Some content may be retained in anonymized form (e.g. aggregate price reports) or where we have a legal obligation to keep it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@oliveterm.com.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication (Supabase session) and preference cookies for language. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
